Imaging Workstation
X-Ray, CT and MRI are not a progress bar. You sit at a real radiology workstation, take the films yourself and read them.
The patient must be lying on the scanner table itself. A patient on a bed nearby is never picked up or moved. If they get up, die or disconnect mid-exam, the workstation closes and the exam is stopped.
🩻 X-Ray, you find the break
- Pick a region with the number keys (1 … 8).
- Press SPACE to take the film.
- Click the break on the film to mark it.
- Press ENTER to finish the examination.
Only fractures you mark are confirmed. A break you miss is not reported, and clicking where there is no break counts as a misread.
The breaks are drawn on real X-ray films, along the actual bone, ribs, the skull vault, the neck vertebrae, the femoral necks, the humerus, radius, ulna, tibia and fibula. The same fracture is always in the same place on every film, so a second medic sees exactly what you saw.
🧠 CT, read for you
- Pick a region and press SPACE to scan.
- Press C to switch between the scout film and the axial slice.
- Press ENTER to finish.
CT scans the head and chest, arms and legs go to X-ray, as in a real ER. Everything in a scanned region is read automatically when you finish: fractures, internal bleeding, concussion, a collapsed lung and blood around the heart.
🧲 MRI, read for you
Works like CT, on every region. Findings are drawn bright on the scan, as on a real fluid-sensitive trauma sequence.
| Region | What the MRI shows |
|---|---|
| Head | Skull fractures, brain contusions, bleeding under the skull |
| Neck | Neck fractures, spinal cord injury |
| Chest | Rib fractures, bleeding in the chest |
| Abdomen | Pelvic fractures, fluid in the belly |
| Arms & legs | Fractures and bone bruising |

🖨️ The report
When you finish, the results are saved like every other hospital test:
- the patient's Findings tab,
- their medical record,
- any report you write afterwards.
Press P to print the imaging report as a paper item you can hand over.
🎞️ X-ray films and the lightbox
Every X-ray also hands you its films as an xray_film item, labelled with the patient's name and the time it was taken.
Use the item to hold it up to a backlit lightbox: every film from that exam, with the break you marked circled and the findings beside them. Click a film to bring it up large, the first one with a break opens first.
Hand it to a colleague, a surgeon, or the patient.
Without the workstation (minigames off, or easy mode), every region is filmed and the film still comes out.
📺 Imaging screens
Place an Imaging Screen next to a scanner in the hospital creator, on the wall, or on a rolling stand. It mirrors the workstation live: everyone in the room sees the film being taken and read, and the last film stays up for 5 minutes after the exam.
The same screen shows the procedure live during surgery.
shared/config/hospital.lua → Config.ImagingScreens
| Setting | Default | |
|---|---|---|
enabled | true | |
renderDistance | 15 m | Screens are drawn within this distance |
maxScreens | 2 | Live screens at once per player (nearest first) |
linkDistance | 8 m | A screen shows a scanner table within this distance |
onePerTable | true | Each table is shown on its own nearest screen only |
holdSeconds | 300 | How long the last film stays up |
The TV and the rolling stand come from the prop pack (kartik_tv_55, kartik_tv_stand).
⚙️ Settings
shared/config/tests.lua
| Setting | |
|---|---|
Config.HospitalTests.<test>.viewer | 'xray', 'ct' or 'mri' uses the workstation. Set it to false for the old scan minigame |
Config.Imaging.exposure | Milliseconds per film taken (default 1400) |
Config.Imaging.filmItem | The film item an X-ray gives (default xray_film, false = none) |
Config.Imaging.zones | Which film each body part shows |
Config.Imaging.bones | Where on each film a break can be drawn |
Config.UI.minigames = false skips the workstation and every scan becomes a progress bar. Easy mode on a job does the same for that department, see Jobs.
