FAQ
Setup
Hospitals live only in the database. Three examples, Pillbox, Sandy Shores and Paleto, are imported on the first start, but they are placed for the default GTA interiors. If you use custom MLOs, you have to place the points yourself.
Run /emsadmin → World → Hospitals. See First Setup.
Check /emsadmin → Staff → Jobs and make sure your medical job is ticked. Then make sure there is a Duty Toggle point placed in at least one hospital.
The items were not added to your inventory. See Adding the Items.
If they exist but the wrong thing happens when used, for example a bandage just heals, you have a duplicate definition. Your inventory shipped with its own bandage and it is winning. Delete the old one.
Another death or medical script is still running. Stop qbx_medical, qbx_ambulancejob, qb-ambulancejob, esx_ambulancejob, wasabi_ambulance or whatever it named.
No. The compatibility layer answers qbx_medical, qb-ambulancejob and esx_ambulancejob exports and events. Anything that used to call them keeps working.
No. Without ox_target, qb-target or sleepless_interact, the script uses its own [E] prompts. Everything works, it just looks plainer.
Add the two key events to p_vehiclekeys/server.lua and start p_vehiclekeys before this script. EMS vehicle keys are then given as the car_key item in ox_inventory. See Physical Keys (p_vehiclekeys).
Gameplay
No, that is the design. Respawning is first aid, not treatment. Bleeding stops and blood is topped up, but wounds, fractures, burns and illnesses stay until a medic treats them.
Set Config.Death.keepInjuriesOnRespawn = false if you want respawning to heal everything.
Their blood volume was below 3,000 ml, or they are still bleeding. Stop the bleeding and give fluids or blood first.
Check the rhythm. PEA and asystole are not shockable, no amount of shocking will help. Those need CPR, epinephrine and fluids.
If it is shockable, stack your modifiers: epinephrine (+25%), amiodarone (+15%), 360 joules (+15%), and magnesium if it is torsades (removes a −30% penalty).
See Cardiac Arrest.
The patient has an untreated tension pneumothorax, cardiac tamponade or blocked airway. No shock, CPR or help up works until it is fixed, the message says which one. Decompress the chest, clear or intubate the airway, or get them to a hospital for pericardiocentesis.
Casts require three things:
- The fracture must be confirmed by an X-Ray, CT or MRI, a palpated fracture is only suspected.
- You must be inside a hospital.
- You need the Casts permission (rank 1+ by default).
Correct, not in the field. Surgery is the treatment. Find it with a CT, MRI or the ultrasound, sedate the patient with propofol, and operate at a Surgery Table. Requires rank 3+.
A small bleed into the chest (level 1) can also be let out with a chest drain.
That is deliberate. Check-in disables itself when 3 or more medics are on duty, or when an on-duty medic is within 40 m of the desk. It is a fallback for an empty department, not a way to skip medics.
Both thresholds are configurable in Config.CheckIn.
Turn it off:
Config.DiseaseSettings.randomCatch = falseInjuries, overdoses, environment illnesses and admin-given diseases still work. New players are already protected for their first hour of play time.
/curedisease [id] clears diseases. The Wound Editor lists everything on the player, injuries, diseases, medications, mobility orders, and removes any single entry. /revive [id] as an admin is always a full heal.
Reconnecting clears it. Admins can use Stop sounds in /emsadmin → Tools.
Check the rank. Needle decompression and intubation need rank 1, chest drains and pericardiocentesis rank 2. New permissions are given to every grade at or above their default rank on the first start after the update, change them in /emsadmin → Staff → Permissions.
Also make sure you added the 8 new items (chest_seal, decompression_needle, pelvic_binder, airway_kit, intubation_kit, io_needle, ultrasound, xray_film) to your inventory. See Adding the Items.
Balance
Turn pieces off rather than abandoning it:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
Config.UI.minigames = false | All minigames become plain progress bars |
Easy mode on a job (/emsadmin → Staff → Jobs) | The same, for one department only |
Config.Trauma.enabled = false | No collapsed lungs, tamponades, airway problems or pelvic bleeding |
Config.Impairments.enabled = false | Injuries stop affecting gameplay |
Config.DiseaseSettings.enabled = false | No illness at all |
Config.Environment.enabled = false | No temperature |
Config.Revive.reviveKit.enabled = true | Instant revive item for medics |
Config.Death.keepInjuriesOnRespawn = false | Respawning heals everything |
Config.Healing.infection = false | Wounds never get infected |
The script is built for this:
- The AI medic drives out and revives players when no medics are on duty.
- Check-in at reception patches players up.
- The pharmacy sells basic medicine to anyone.
- Players keep their inventory when no medic was on duty to save them.
- First aid kits let civilians help each other up.
- Enable the revive kit for a real emergency option.
Patient ratings are the built-in answer. Every discharged patient rates their care 1–5, worth +3 to −3 reputation, and reputation is shown on a public leaderboard. Low-reputation medics end up marked Under Review for the whole department to see.
Technical
No. Exports, events and images all reference kartik-ambulancejob by name.
Yes. locales/en.json holds every string. Copy it, translate the values, set setr ox_locale <code>. See Language.
No. Every custom prop has a base-game fallback and the script uses the first model that actually exists. The pack just makes it look better. See Optional Props.
The interface uses no blur, shadows or CSS filters, so it never softens or slows down the game rendering behind it. World screens (boards, monitors) only draw within their render distance.
shared/, bridge/, locales/ and install/ are outside the escrow. Keep backups of anything you edit there.
Your hospitals, jobs, permissions, templates, settings and records are all in the database, so updates never touch them.
Yes. /emsadmin → Hospitals → Export gives you JSON. Import it on the other server.
Still stuck?
Turn on Config.Debug = true, reproduce the problem, and check F8 and your server console. Then get in touch with what it printed.
