Mobility Orders
A doctor's orders on how a patient may move, and the script actually holds them to it.
๐ The orders
| Order | Set by | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | Discharge | , no restrictions |
| Rest | Discharge | 10 min |
| Crutches required | Discharge, or a broken leg | 15 min |
| Wheelchair required | Discharge, or both legs broken | 10 min |
| Recovery | Automatic, right after being revived | 60 s |
Pick one on Patient Care โ Discharge. The crutch or wheelchair item is handed to the patient and equipped on the spot.
Handing the aid back
When the order runs out (or a medic lowers or clears it) and the legs no longer need the aid, the crutch or wheelchair that was handed out is taken back:
- Crutch: put away and one
crutchitem removed from the inventory. - Wheelchair: if the chair is out in the world, the patient stands up and the chair is removed. Otherwise one
wheelchairitem is removed from the inventory.
The patient gets a short notification. Broken legs that still need the aid keep it until they heal. The same applies to the aid a hospital check-in gives with a leg cast. Only aids the script handed out are taken back, and only while the patient is alive. A chair someone else is sitting in is left alone. Turn this off with takeBack = false (below).
๐ท What each order does
Without the aid in hand:
| Sprint | Jump | Limp | Aim & shoot | Melee | Walk speed | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Recovery | โ | โ | โ | โ | normal | |
| Rest | โ | โ | โ | โ | โ | normal |
| Crutches required | โ | โ | โ | โ | โ | 35%, and stumbles |
| Wheelchair required | โ | โ | โ | โ | โ | can't stand, crawl only |
With the aid in use:
| On crutches | No sprint, no jump, no aiming or melee, but a normal walk and no stumbling |
| In a wheelchair | No aiming or melee. Propel yourself or get pushed |
The orders are the stick, the aid is the carrot. Ignore crutch orders and you stumble and fall every few seconds. Use the crutch and you walk fine. It makes players want to roleplay their injury.
๐ฆด Broken legs set their own orders
A broken leg needs an aid until it heals, even without a doctor's orders:
| Needs | |
|---|---|
| One leg broken | Crutches |
| Both legs broken | Wheelchair |
A doctor can order something stricter, never something weaker. A crutch is refused while both legs are broken, it won't hold you.
๐ฉบ Changing orders, reassessment
Medics with the Mobility orders permission can change a patient's orders at any time by targeting them: Actions โ Mobility Orders.
- Pick the new order.
- A short assessment plays.
- The patient is told their new orders.
Raising orders (rest โ crutches) is always allowed. Lowering them can require the legs to have healed first, see requireHealed below.
A patient can also shorten their orders at a physiotherapy session.
โ๏ธ Settings
shared/config/equipment.lua โ Config.MobilityAids
| Setting | Default | |
|---|---|---|
effects | see above | What each order blocks: sprint, jump, limp, aim, melee, speed (0โ1), crawl, stumble |
legFractures | { one = 'crutch', both = 'wheelchair' } | The aid broken legs need. false = no automatic orders |
reassess | true | Medics can change orders by targeting the patient |
requireHealed | 'off' | Lowering orders needs leg fractures to be: 'off' (no check), 'cast' (in a cast) or 'healed' (gone) |
assessTime | 3000 | Milliseconds of the assessment animation |
takeBack | true | Take back the crutch / wheelchair handed out on discharge or with a leg cast once neither the order nor the legs need it. Also in /emsadmin โ Settings โ Mobility orders |
stumble = { every = 5, chance = 30, time = 2000 } means: every 5 seconds of walking, a 30% chance to fall for 2 seconds.
The post-revive Recovery period is set in shared/config/death.lua โ Config.Death.recovery.
