Airdrops
A cargo plane drops a crate of loot somewhere in the city. Every gang gets the same warning, the crate is guarded by armed NPCs, and the first gang member to crack it open takes the loot. Servers can also open airdrops up to everyone, not just gangs.
🛩️ How an airdrop plays out
1. The announcement
- Every gang member online is told a plane is inbound (or every player, when airdrops are open to everyone).
- The drop zone is marked on the map with a circle, and on the tablet Map under the Airdrops layer.
- An on-screen pill shows "Airdrop incoming", a countdown and your distance.
2. The drop
- About 2 minutes later, a cargo plane flies over and the crate parachutes down.
- It lands with a red flare, so it's easy to spot.
- The pill changes to "Airdrop landed" with a despawn countdown.
3. The fight
- 8 armed guards surround the crate. They're armoured and shoot on sight.
- Guards leave downed players and on-duty EMS alone, so medics can reach the scene (setting).
- Other gangs are racing for the same crate, so expect company.
- Servers can make the fight harder: tougher or more skilled guards, reinforcement waves when the first group is almost dead, or a rule that every guard must be dead before the crate can be opened.
4. Opening the crate
- Walk up to the crate and interact with it. Only gang members can open it (anyone, when open to everyone; police are left out by default).
- Hold on for 10 seconds while it opens.
- Pass the quick skill check (press the keys shown in time).
5. The loot
- The player who opens it gets 3 random rewards.
- Their gang earns 100 XP. Players without a gang keep all the loot themselves.
- The airdrop ends for everyone.
Unopened crates disappear 25 minutes after landing.
🎁 Default loot
Each crate draws 3 times from this table. The same reward can come up more than once.
| Reward | Amount | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Spray Cans | 10 | ⅓ |
| Spray Removers | 10 | ⅓ |
| Dirty money | $100,000 | ⅓ |
Money goes to the player by default. Server owners can send it to the gang treasury instead.
🕐 When airdrops happen
- Automatically every 2 hours, at one of 6 drop zones around the map.
- Staff can also start one at any time.
- Servers can limit drops to certain hours, or require a minimum number of gang members online.
🛠️ For staff
- Admin → Airdrops shows the active drop, the next scheduled drop, the loot table and the drop zones. Start a drop at a random or chosen location, or stop the active one. See Admin → Airdrops.
- Command:
/gangairdrop [location number]. Also works from the server console.
Loot, locations and the schedule are changed in shared/underworld.lua. See Configuration → Underworld.
