Restraints & Compliance

This module handles physical control over suspects, featuring realistic handcuffs, zipties, escorts, player compliance anims, and physical tackle mechanics.

1. Handcuffs & Zipties

  • Handcuffs (handcuffs): Standard department issued restraints. Suspects cannot interact with menus, run, or climb while cuffed. Requires key or lockpick to free.
  • Zipties (ziptie): Alternative plastic flex-cuffs.
  • Double Locking: Officers can double-lock cuffs (via command or target) to secure them, making them significantly harder to lockpick or break.

2. Escort & Vehicle Transport

  • Escorting: Grab a restrained player to walk/run them alongside you.
  • Transport: Put suspects into the back seats of nearby vehicles or pull them out.

Seat Selection

Suspects go into the rear seats first (rear left, then rear right, then any extra rear seats). The front passenger seat is only used when the back is full or the vehicle has no rear seats.

To put a suspect in a specific seat, add it to the command:

CommandSeat
/putinvehAutomatic (rear seats first)
/putinveh front (or fp)Front passenger
/putinveh rl (or rearleft, left)Rear left
/putinveh rr (or rearright, right)Rear right
/putinveh 3Seat number (0 = front passenger, 1 = rear left, 2 = rear right, higher = extra seats in vans/buses)

If the chosen seat is taken, the suspect goes in the next free seat using the automatic order. The driver seat can never be chosen.

To go back to the old order (front passenger first), set this in shared/cuffs.lua:

PrioritizeBackseats = false,

Pulling Someone Out of a Vehicle

Use Take out of Vehicle (target), the radial menu or /outveh near the vehicle. Officers can pull out:

  • Anyone who is cuffed or zip tied (also right after a script restart).
  • Anyone who is dead or bleeding out.
  • Anyone else sitting in a stopped vehicle, cuffed or not. This covers suspects you escorted in without cuffs and drivers who refuse to step out. The vehicle has to be stopped (or almost stopped), so nobody can be pulled out of a moving car.

Only police can pull out someone who is not cuffed, even when AllowCivilians is on. To only allow cuffed or downed people to be pulled out, set this in shared/cuffs.lua:

PullOutUncuffed = false,

3. Physical Tackle System

  • Apprehending Runaways: Officers running at full sprint can physically tackle a fleeing suspect to the ground.
  • Stun Duration: The tackled player is briefly stunned on the ground (e.g. 2.5 seconds), giving the officer time to pull out restraints.
  • Fail Check: Running at slower speeds or failing to reach target range prevents successful tackles.

4. Compliance Animations

  • Hands Up / Surrender: Suspects can hold their hands up or kneel with hands behind head to indicate compliance, making them eligible for quick-frisks or searches.

How to Use In-Game

  • To Tackle: While sprinting towards a target, press the configured key (default X) or type /tackle.
  • To Cuff: Stand behind/near a suspect, use the handcuffs item, or select "Handcuff" from the target options.
  • Double Lock: Use /doublelock on a cuffed suspect.
  • To Escort: Target the restrained player and select "Escort", or use the radial menu.
  • To Lockpick: If you have a lockpick item, use it near a cuffed suspect to attempt a lockpicking mini-game.
  • Compliance: Type /kneel or hold the hands-up key to enter a surrender stance.
