Kartik Scripts

Tablet Management

If your server runs multiple scripts from our suite (e.g., Police Job, MDT/Dispatch, and Evidence), officers might end up with multiple tablet items in their inventory.

This guide explains the design decisions behind separate tablets and how you can optimize your setup to avoid inventory clutter.

Why are there separate tablets?

To keep each resource completely standalone. Not every server owns or uses all three scripts. The Police Job tablet exists to ensure that servers running only the Police Job script still have access to its features without requiring MDT or Evidence.

Strategies to Avoid Inventory Clutter

For servers that own multiple scripts, there are a couple of ways to avoid inventory clutter and ensure a smooth experience for your officers:

1. Do not issue the Police Job tablet to everyone

If your server is running all three scripts (MDT/Dispatch, Evidence, and Police Job), you do not need to hand out the physical Police Job tablet to every officer.

  • Many shared integrations (like the Bodycam network) are already accessible directly through the MDT interface.
  • You can safely omit the Police Job tablet item from the default officer kit/inventory, keeping their inventory clean.
  • Keep the Police Job tablet item reserved only for High Command or Academy Instructors who need to manage permissions, configurations, or cadet exams on the go.

2. Configure Station Interaction Locations

Instead of carrying a physical tablet, you can configure interaction points around the station where officers can access Police Job features:

  • Use the /policeadmin command to open the world-building panel.
  • Set up interaction zones/NPCs (e.g., Duty points, Garage points, Armoury) at specific physical locations.
  • Officers can access all necessary menus using 3D text or target interactions at these locations without carrying an additional tablet.

3. Restrict portable access to specific roles

If you still want portable/handheld access to the Police Job tablet, consider reserving the physical item for specific roles (e.g., High Command, Duty Sergeants, or Academy Instructors) rather than handing it out to every cadet.

Future Considerations

We understand the request for a unified tablet, and it is something we are considering for future updates. The main challenge is implementing it without taking away the standalone nature of each resource or affecting servers that only use one of them.
