Visiting a Hospital
Hospitals are marked on your map. You do not need to be hurt to go, there are several things any player can do there.
🛎️ Checking in at reception

The check-in desk is the safety net for when no medics are available.
- Talk to the receptionist at the Check-in Desk.
- Pay the fee ($1,000 by default).
- Lie in a bed while the hospital treats you.
- Get up patched up, with hunger and thirst topped up.
The time in bed scales with how badly hurt you are, a base of 15 seconds, plus 4 seconds per injured body part.
Check-in switches itself off when real medics are available. By default it is disabled when 3 or more medics are on duty anywhere in the city, and also whenever an on-duty medic is standing within 40 m of the desk.
This is deliberate: it is a fallback for an empty department, not a way to skip roleplay.
You can also pay for someone else, drag a downed friend to the desk and check them in.
🎫 Triage tickets
The desk works with numbered tickets like A-007, each with a triage colour:
| Colour | |
|---|---|
| 🔴 Red, immediate | Down, lost a lot of blood, or a life-threatening injury |
| 🟠 Orange, very urgent | A critical injury |
| 🟡 Yellow, urgent | Something that needs treating |
| 🟢 Green, standard | Everything else |
When check-in is off because medics are around, the desk offers Take a ticket instead. It shows your number and how many are ahead of you. Your number appears on the waiting room TV and every on-duty medic is paged. Wait until a medic calls it.
A patient checked in by the desk gets a ticket too, and shows as In care on the TV with the time left.
A waiting ticket lapses after 45 minutes, or as soon as you leave the hospital.
By default, check-in treats your injuries but does not cure diseases. Server owners can change that.

Filling a prescription
If a doctor wrote you a prescription, collect it here. You will see:
- what was prescribed and at what dosage,
- how many refills you have left,
- when it expires.
A prescription is valid for 14 days by default (up to 60), with up to 5 refills.
See Prescriptions for the doctor's side.
🛡️ Insurance

Buy a plan at the insurance desk and it discounts what you pay for medical care.
Plans, prices and what each one covers are created by senior medics in the EMS tablet, so every server designs its own.
🩸 Donating blood
At the Blood Donation Chair a medic can take 500 ml of your blood.
- You are paid $250.
- You can donate again after 2 hours.
- Your bag goes to the medic, labelled with your initials. The lab types it before it can be used.
Donated blood is how a server's blood bank stays stocked. Transfusions need compatible blood, so O- donors are genuinely valuable.
See The Blood Bank.
🛗 Elevators
Hospitals with multiple floors have elevator points. Walk in, pick your floor.
📺 The hospital board

A live TV screen in the world, usually in the lobby. Anyone can read it:
- Which doctors are on duty and what they are doing right now.
- How many beds are free.
- The waiting room tickets, most urgent first, numbers only, no names.
- Incoming ambulances with a live ETA.
- A Page a doctor button, press it and every on-duty medic's pager goes off.
The page button has a 2-minute cooldown so it cannot be spammed.
