Water Supply

Every configured truck carries a water tank and foam concentrate (Config.Water.vehicles). Hoses and the deck gun drain the tank; refill it from a hydrant, a portable pump at open water, a reservoir or another truck.
Pump panel
Target the rear of the truck → Pump Panel (or set Config.Water.panelKey).
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Main pump | Moves water. Needed for every outlet and for filling |
| Master valve | Opens the tank to the outlets |
| Attack 1 / 2 | Hose lines |
| Supply | Feeds another truck |
| Ladder | Deck gun / monitor |
| Foam | Switches the hoses to foam (uses concentrate) |
| Foam mix | Makes concentrate from water |
| Intake | Fills the tank from whatever is connected |
| Pressure | Throttle up / down in PSI |
| Diagnose | Finds and marks a kinked line |
Turning the pump on is done by hand on the truck's cab controls: parking brake, neutral, the switch to PUMP, then drive. Then bring it up to pressure on the gauge (Engaging the pump).

Pressure
Pressure sets how far the hose and deck gun reach, how hard they knock fire down and how much water they use. Too low and the stream falls short, too high and the line kicks.
Shared pump: lines draw from one pump. Open a second line and the real pressure falls below what is set; shut one and it surges. The governor drifts while water flows, so the operator keeps correcting. The panel shows set and actual pressure and the intake gauge (Config.Water.demand).
Pump faults
Each fault comes from how the pump is run (Config.Water.pumpFaults):
- Overheat: pump on with nothing flowing for 2 minutes and it shuts down for a while.
- Lost prime: the tank runs dry while pumping. No pressure until the pump is primed again.
- Stuck relief valve: running above the high pressure can stick the relief valve until it's freed.
Hose
Take an attack line from the truck. The hose uses the fire extinguisher weapon for the aim animation; firing is replaced with a water jet. The mouse wheel switches between jet (26 m reach) and fog (12 m, wide). X drops the line. Lines are 45 m long (Config.Water.maxLineLength).
H sets the nozzle down: the line stays laid out and connected, and anyone on duty picks it up again (stand next to it and press E). Walking past the end of the hose drops the nozzle where the hose ends instead of returning the line. X still returns the whole line to the truck.
The line is the job's own fire hose: it lies on the ground along the way you walked (walk back over it to pick it up), flat while dry and round once water flows, with brass couplings, and runs into the back of the nozzle in your hand. While you hold it, the prompt shows the pattern, water or foam and the discharge pressure. The stream you and other players see grows and shrinks with the pump's discharge pressure, and reaches as far as it really hits. Water leaves wet patches where it lands, which dry after a while (Config.Hose.wet). Hose look and bends: Config.Water.rope; nozzle placement: Config.Hose.nozzleProp, tuned live with /fireadmin → Locations → Tune nozzle.
Kinks and leaks: flowing lines can kink (flow drops) or leak (sprays, loses water). Leaks are visible. Kinks you find by walking the line, or with Diagnose on the pump panel, which marks it. Fix them where they are: work the loop out of a kink by hand, do a leaking coupling back up gently (Config.Water.hoseFaults).
Hydrants
Take a supply line from a hydrant, all with the mouse: turn the cap off anticlockwise (some are seized: knock them loose with the wrench first), do the supply coupling up clockwise (slow down as it snugs up or it cross-threads), then open the valve with the wrench: circle anticlockwise. The first part is stiff. Once water flows, turning too fast slams the line (water hammer): the camera jolts and water bursts off the hydrant. The tablet scene map shows the nearest hydrant with GPS.

Other water sources
- Truck to truck: a supply line from one truck's supply outlet to another's intake.
- Portable pump: placed and assembled at a river, lake or the sea.
- Portable reservoir: set up the fold-a-tank (
portable_reservoir), dump trucks into it (trucks withtanker = truedump faster) and take a draft line from it to an engine (Config.Water.reservoir). - Boats: the rescue boat (
dinghy) and fire boat (predator) draft straight from the sea. With the pump and intake on, the tank refills by itself.
Deck gun
Trucks with deckGun = true have a monitor on the roof, run from the Ladder outlet. It flows more than a hose and reaches further.
Extinguishers
The extinguisher is one of several agents. Target any fire truck → Grab an extinguisher and pick one (Config.Extinguishers). Nobody tells you which is right: read what is burning. The wrong one barely works, water shocks you on live electrics, and water on burning fuel flares it up (see Fires).
| Agent | Best on |
|---|---|
| Water (class A) | Structure, dumpster, wildfire. Shocks you on live electrics |
| AFFF foam (class A / B) | Fuel, industrial, vehicle |
| Dry powder (ABC) | Vehicle, fuel, all-round |
| CO2 | Electrical |
| Wet chemical (class F) | Kitchen fires |
Engaging the pump
Engaging the pump is done on the truck's controls with the mouse: pull the parking brake out, select neutral, move the switch to PUMP, then select drive. Both green lamps light when it is engaged. There is no step list (open Procedure if you forget): flipping to pump while in drive grinds and refuses, and putting it in gear with the brake off makes the truck roll forward. Then bring it up to working pressure with the throttle.
Ground monitor
Place a ground monitor (ground_monitor), target it → Connect to the closest truck: thread the coupling on the inlet, and it takes a free attack line outlet (open that line on the pump panel). Aim the monitor kneels you at it: A / D turns it, W / S raises and lowers the stream, E opens the valve, Backspace steps away. The help box says why no water is coming (pump off, line closed...). It keeps flowing when you walk away (Config.Monitor).
Helicopter water bucket
Target a landed fire-service helicopter → Hook up the water bucket. The pilot dips the bucket into a lake, river or the sea to fill it and holds G over the fire to drop; every flame under the drop is knocked down (Config.HeliBucket).
