Equipment
Truck compartment
Target any fire truck → Equipment compartment to take what the call needs (Config.TruckEquipment). Put everything back returns it all.

| Spare SCBA cylinders | 2 |
| Burns dressings | 4 |
| Hazmat spill kits | 2 |
| Ventilation fan, diving gear, fire extinguisher | 1 each |
Using tools
Use the item from your inventory. X puts the tool away. Some tools need a certificate (Config.Certifications).
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Hydraulic spreaders | Force a door off. Build force in stages without losing the bite |
| Hydraulic cutter | Cut door hinges and roof pillars. Avoid the airbag inflators |
| Rescue saw | Cut through door hinges |
| Rescue ram | Roll the dashboard off trapped legs |
| Lifting airbags | Lift a car or a load off a casualty |
| Stabilisers | Stop a crashed car from moving. Also used to shore rubble and crib loads |
| Halligan | Smash windows and force locks |
| Fire axe | Force doors and smash windows |
| Pike pole | E at a fire pulls the ceiling: smouldering spots and hot spots in reach go out for good, some smoke escapes |
| Chainsaw | E at a fire cuts a ventilation hole (a lot of smoke out). Also forces doors and cuts up fallen trees |
| Ventilation fan | Clears smoke and gas |
| Thermal imaging camera | See heat and people through smoke (below) |
| 4-gas detector | Read the air (below) |
| Cones / barriers | Close lanes around a scene, set exclusion zones and cordons |
| Portable ladder | Place it against a wall, then Climb up / Climb down |
| Air cushion | Place and inflate it under a ledge. Catches a jumper |
| Diving gear | Scuba set with a dive torch. Needed to free drivers from sunk cars |
| Portable pump | Draws water from rivers, lakes and the sea |
| Portable reservoir | Fold-a-tank for tanker shuttles and drafting |
| Hose pack | 30 m more attack line across rough ground |
| Drip torch | Lay burn lines (a wide valve can start spot fires) |
| Fire rake | Cut firebreaks a wildfire can't cross |
| SCBA cylinder | Swap in a full bottle |
Tool models are lists: the first model that exists is used, so put your own prop first and keep the base game one as a fallback (Config.Tools).
Forcible entry
House and nightclub fires can have a locked front door (red marker). Nobody can bring the trapped people out until it's forced. Hold a tool and target the door; each tool works differently (Config.ForcibleEntry):
| Tool | How |
|---|---|
| Irons (halligan in hand + fire axe in your inventory) | Quickest: set the fork at the lock and lever it, the axe drives it in for you |
| Halligan | Find the lock, drive the fork in, lever it without jerking |
| Fire axe | Timed strikes |
| Chainsaw | Lean into the cut, ease off at the hinges and lock |
Once the door is open, smoke pours out.

Thermal imaging camera
Hold right mouse with the camera in hand:
- Thermal vision through smoke.
- The temperature where you aim and the hottest point in view.
- A flashover warning.
- Boxes around people who need help and around hot spots (also the smouldering source on a smoke detector call).

4-gas detector
Held in the hand it reads the air where you stand (Config.GasDetector):
| Gas | Alarm at |
|---|---|
| Oxygen (O2) | below 19.5% |
| Flammable gas (LEL) | 10% |
| Carbon monoxide (CO) | 35 ppm |
| Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) | 10 ppm |
Gas leaks read highest at the leak, smoke brings CO and low oxygen, chemical spills give off H2S. It beeps when a reading crosses its alarm. On gas leak calls, a 0% LEL reading at the leak after venting confirms the air is clear (optional objective).
Wall extinguishers
Extinguishers hanging around the city can be taken off the wall, used and hung back (walk to the empty spot, E). Each one keeps its charge; Check the gauge shows it. A firefighter refills an empty one with an extinguisher_refill (pressurise it into the green). Firefighters hang new ones with an extinguisher_mount (both in the truck compartment): aimed at a wall it hangs upright where you point. Placed mounts are saved (Config.Mounts).
Glass first
A side door's window has to be broken before the spreaders, cutter or saw can work that door: use the glass hammer (glass_hammer), halligan or axe on the window (Config.GlassFirst). Door tools work on the door you aim at, and a removed door unlocks the car.
Lining up props
/fireadmin → Locations → Tune held prop while holding a tool: arrows move the prop in your hand, Page Up / Down raise it, Shift rotates, Ctrl takes bigger steps and 1 / 2 / 3 turn it a quarter round. Enter prints the line for config_tools.lua to F8.
Aerial ladder
Ladder trucks (Config.Aerial.vehicles) have a working aerial. Stop the truck and target it: Work the aerial ladder.
| Key | |
|---|---|
| A / D | Turn the turntable |
| W / S | Raise / lower |
| E / Q | Extend / retract |
| ↑ / ↓ | Aim the tip monitor |
| Left mouse | Water from the tip (pump on, master and the Ladder outlet open) |
| X | Step off |
Firefighters can Ride the bucket before it goes up and are carried with it; X climbs back down. Everyone sees the ladder move. Add your own ladder trucks with where the ladder turns on them (base).
Stretcher
Take the stretcher from any fire truck. While you carry it, picking someone up lays them on the stretcher instead of over your shoulder; put them down as usual. Put the stretcher back at a fire truck (Config.Stretcher).
Light tower
Set up a light tower from any fire truck to light a night scene: floodlights on a stand, placed like other equipment. Target it to switch it on or off or pack it away (Config.Tools.lighttower).
