Commands & Keybinds
Kartik-Mechanic registers a set of chat commands and keybinds, some for admins, some for job holders, and some for every player.
Keybinds are registered through FiveM's key mapping system, so players can rebind any of them from ESC → Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM.
Admin Commands
These require admin permissions.
| Command | Action | Permission |
|---|---|---|
/mechcreator | Opens the Mechanic Shop Creator, create, edit, and delete shops, zones, and employees. | Admin |
/hdl-editor | Opens the Vehicle Handling Editor. Rename it with Config.HandlingEditor.Command. | group.admin |
/admincustoms | Opens the customs menu for the nearest vehicle with all upgrades free and job checks bypassed. | Admin |
/fixvehfull | Fully repairs the nearest vehicle, body damage, part wear, and maintenance intervals all reset to new. | Admin |
/kmlogflush | Writes the current logs to a file. Run this before opening a support ticket and attach the log. | Admin or server console |
The HUD commands, including the admin one, are listed together under HUD Commands below.
/hdl-editor is only available when the handling editor is enabled, see Enable / Disable Reference.
Job & Mechanic Commands
These are gated by job rather than admin rank.
| Command | Action | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
/mechmanagement | Opens the Shop Management menu for the business you are employed at. | Must be employed at a mechanic shop |
/togglemechblips | Shows or hides the mechanic shop blips on the map. | Mechanic job |
/flatbed | Loads the nearest vehicle onto a flatbed, or unloads the one currently attached. See Flatbed System. | Mechanic job (can be turned off with Config.Flatbed.JobRequired) |
/extras | Opens the Extras & Livery menu for the nearest vehicle. | Job listed in Config.ExtrasMenuJobs |
/livery | Same as /extras. | Job listed in Config.ExtrasMenuJobs |
Config.ExtrasMenuJobs in shared/general.lua ships with police and ambulance enabled, so emergency services can change their own liveries and extras without visiting a mechanic.
HUD Commands
The mechanic HUD (mileage, gears, nitro, seatbelt, TCS/ESC) is moved and restyled entirely in-game, there is nothing to edit in a config file for positions.
| Command | Action | Who |
|---|---|---|
/mechanic_settings | Change your HUD. Opens the HUD editor, drag elements to move them, and use the toolbar to change background, colours, opacity, and size. Click Save when done. | Everyone |
/mechanic_reset_hud | Reset your HUD. Clears your own customization and puts you back on the server default layout. | Everyone |
/mechanic_admin_hud | Set the server default HUD. Same editor, but saving stores the layout every player starts with. | Admin |
See HUD Customization for the full breakdown.
Keybinds
All of the following are registered as key mappings. The default key column is what the player gets before they rebind; the config column is where you change that default.
Nitrous
| Command | Action | Default Key | Config |
|---|---|---|---|
+mechanic_nitrous | Activates Nitrous boost while held. | LSHIFT | Rebind in-game only |
+mechanic_purge | Activates the Nitrous purge effect while held. | LCONTROL | Rebind in-game only |
Manual Transmission
| Command | Action | Default Key | Config |
|---|---|---|---|
+clutch | Holds the clutch (disengages engine from wheels). | LMENU (Left Alt) | Config.Keys.Clutch |
shiftup | Shifts up one gear. | LSHIFT | Config.Keys.ShiftUp |
shiftdown | Shifts down one gear. | LCONTROL | Config.Keys.ShiftDown |
Only works while the vehicle is in manual mode and the player is in the driver's seat. See Manual Transmission.
Electronics (TCS & ESC)
| Command | Action | Default Key | Config |
|---|---|---|---|
toggle_tcs | Toggles Traction Control on the current vehicle. | T + hold LALT | Config.Electronics.TCS.Keybind / .Modifier |
toggle_esc | Toggles Stability Control on the current vehicle. | E + hold LALT | Config.Electronics.ESC.Keybind / .Modifier |
The modifier key must be held down at the same time as the main key. Set Modifier to nil if you'd rather have a single-key toggle. See Electronics.
Seatbelt
| Command | Action | Default Key | Config |
|---|---|---|---|
hud_seatbelt | Buckles / unbuckles the seatbelt (or harness, if fitted). | B | Config.SeatbeltKey |
If another resource already owns your seatbelt key, set Config.EnableRegisterKeyMapping = false to stop Kartik-Mechanic registering its own. See Seatbelt & Harness.
Default key overlaps: the nitrous defaults (LSHIFT / LCONTROL) are the same keys as the manual transmission shift defaults. If you run both systems, change Config.Keys.ShiftUp / Config.Keys.ShiftDown, or tell players to rebind in Key Bindings → FiveM.
Setting Up Admin Permissions
Most admin commands use your framework's own admin check, whoever counts as an admin in QBCore, QBox, or ESX counts here, with nothing extra to set up.
The one exception is /hdl-editor, which uses an ACE permission. Add this to your server.cfg:
add_ace group.admin command.hdl-editor allowIf you rename the command with Config.HandlingEditor.Command, update the ACE line to match.
