Report Creation
The foundation of any forensic investigation in kartik-evidence is the Crime Scene Report. This digital document serves as the "source of truth" for a specific incident.
🛠️ How to Create a Report
- Open the Forensic Tablet using the assigned hotkey or item.
- Navigate to the Registry tab.
- Click the "New Case" button.
- Fill in the required metadata:
- Case Title: A short, descriptive name (e.g., "Armed Robbery - Legion Square").
- Case Narrative: A detailed description of the scene as found by the first responders.
- Privacy Level: Toggle between Public (visible to all PD), Private (visible only to you and supervisors), or Shared (visible to specific units).
📍 Automated Data Entry
To ensure accuracy, the system automatically captures several data points upon creation:
- Exact Coordinates: Precise X, Y, Z coordinates for scene reconstruction.
- Zone & Street: Human-readable location data (e.g., "South Rockford Dr, Little Seoul").
- Timestamp: The exact server time the investigation was initiated.
- Assigned Officer: The callsign and name of the officer who opened the case.
🖇️ Linking Data
Once a report is created, it becomes the hub for all other forensic data. You can link:
- Physical Evidence from the Evidence Locker.
- Photographs from the Camera module.
- Biometric Matches (DNA/Fingerprints).
- Body Damage Reports from victim inspections.
