Fingerprint Report
The Fingerprint Report is the final stage of biometric identification, turning a lifted print into a confirmed identity.
🖥️ AFIS Terminal
To generate a report, a lifted print must be processed at an AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) Terminal.
- Upload: Select the lifted print from your inventory while interacting with the terminal.
- Database Matching: The system scans the civilian and criminal fingerprint database for a match.
- Probability Logic: The system displays a match percentage based on the quality of the lifted print (affected by how long it was on the surface or if it was partially wiped).
📄 The Report
A successful match generates a Fingerprint Report in the Forensic Tablet:
- Subject Identity: The name and state ID of the matching individual.
- Visual Comparison: A side-by-side view of the latent print and the database record.
- Case Links: A list of all other cases where this individual's prints have been found.
🕵️ Unknown Subjects (Unsubs)
If no match is found in the database, the report is saved as an "Unknown Subject." This print can still be used to link multiple crime scenes together even if the identity remains a mystery.
