Admin Guide - Where To Change What
Most of kartik-clothing is configured in-game, through the UI, not in a config file and not through commands. The commands exist as a fallback for people who prefer typing, and for anything you want to script, but you never have to use them.
Use this page as the index: find the thing you want to change, and it tells you where it lives.
🗺️ The Four Places Settings Live
| Where | What lives there | How you change it |
|---|---|---|
| 🖥️ In-game UI | Shops, garment restrictions & blacklists, arms/accessory pairing, ped unlocks, design moderation | Open the relevant menu and click. Saved to the database instantly, no restart. |
📄 shared/*.lua | Behaviour switches, prices, catalogs, categories, theme | Edit the file, restart the resource. |
| 💬 Commands | The same actions as the UI, plus console/scripted use | Type them in chat or the server console. |
| 🗄️ Database | Everything the UI writes (shops, locks, compat, designs, outfits) | Read-only in practice, let the UI own these tables. |
⚙️ server.cfg | Load order, and the FXServer sandbox grant the Design Studio may need | Edit and restart the server, permissions are read at boot. |
[!TIP] If a task appears in the In-game UI column, that is the intended way to do it. Reach for the command only when you are batching, scripting, or working from the server console.

🛡️ What "Admin" Means
Everything marked admin resolves through one bridge function, so it follows your framework rather than a config list:
| Framework | Counts as admin when |
|---|---|
| QBX | qbx_core permission admin or god, or the command ace |
| QBCore | HasPermission admin or god, or the command ace |
| ESX | The player's group is an admin group |
Two separate things are being checked, and it matters:
- Command names are gated by
Config.AdminOnlyCommands(chat autocomplete /group.admin). - Actions: saving a lock, editing compatibility, granting a ped, approving a design, are re-checked server side every time. A player who spoofs the NUI still cannot write a lock, and a client that never opened a shop still cannot save a garment it is not allowed to wear.
🚀 Recommended First-Run Order
- Install and start the resource, the default config is playable as-is.
/shopmanager: place your stores and set the Required Job on job-only stores.- In a clothing shop, hit COMPAT EDITOR and pair arms for your addon tops.
- In a clothing shop, hit LOCK EDITOR and blacklist broken addons / lock faction gear.
- Only then open
shared/config.lua, for prices, camera, and the handful of behaviour switches in Configuration.
UI Design System & Theming
Every screen in kartik-clothing, the clothing shop, barber, tattoo parlor, character creator, wardrobe, design studio and shop manager, is recoloured from a single table in shared/config_theme.lua.
Hosting Your Own Preview Images
Every garment card in the shop shows a thumbnail. Base-game clothing is already covered by the public image repository, but if you add addon clothing, those items have no pictures until you make and host them.
