Evidence Processing
The transition from "Raw Data" to "Case Evidence" happens during the Processing Phase.
🔬 Lab Equipment
Investigators have access to specialized laboratory equipment (accessible via target interactions):
- Centrifuge: Used for initial purification of biological swabs.
- DNA Sequencer: Resolves purified samples into genetic profiles.
- AFIS Terminal: Compares latent prints against the civilian database.
- Ballistic Microscope: Used for comparison between recovered ballistics and test-fired weapons.
🧠 Smart Searching
The lab machines in kartik-evidence are designed for efficiency.
- Auto-Detection: When a player interacts with a machine, it automatically scans their inventory for any relevant item that can be processed there.
- Unified Menu: You don't need to have the item in your hand or focused; the machine will present all viable processing options in a single menu.
🛠️ The Forensic Bench
For hands-on tasks, the Forensic Bench is the primary workspace:
- Serial Recovery: Apply acid-etching chemicals to restored scraped serial numbers on weapons.
- Remnant Assembly: Piecing together explosive fragments to identify a device type.
- Item Packaging: "Banning and Tagging" raw items into sterile, evidence-grade containers.
⏳ Processing Time
In kartik-evidence, processing is not instantaneous. Lab work takes time, encouraging investigators to manage multiple cases simultaneously or return to the lab after a patrol.
Evidence Types
kartik-evidence tracks a wide array of forensic markers, each requiring different collection methods and tools.
Access Tool
The Access Tool is a specialized piece of equipment designed for forensic investigators to gain entry into locked vehicles without compromising the evidence within.
